by Dakota
(Austin, Texas, United States of America)
The logs burned and sizzled
like a frying pan
and the leaves crackled
and turned into ashes as they burned
and the coals softly glowed
as if they were stars twinkling in the midnight sky
and the ashes turned everything
as black as coal
and the twigs slowly caught alight
as if sun beam rays were hitting them
on one end, then the other
and a few stray pieces of grass blazed like paper
as the heat made them burn with delight
