There’s something special
about walking by the ocean
On an overcast day
wearing jeans and a sweatshirt
Maybe it’s the smell of the salt air
or the wave’s motion
A quite time for commitments needing to be reassert.
Walking along barefooted
on the water’s foamy edge
Not many around to break the silence
of morning air
With new thoughts still ahead,
time for a new pledge
The past is the past from which brings
tomorrow’s fair.
Almost time to retire
so the future is up for grabs
Time for a new tomorrow
it’s on the horizon now
Taking time to enjoy life more,
don't step on the crabs
Empty all the negative thoughts
not one to allow.
The misty ocean air
brings a serenity uncompared
The cleansing ocean water
cleanses sandy feet
As we get older we can do
what wasn’t dared
Our life’s fountain dwells
within our spirit deep.
