by Christine Ridge
(New Carlisle, Ohio)
My whole world burned down
crashing in flames around me.
A home has so many memories,
Thanksgiving around the table,
Christmas morning all gone
I watch as my home gives in
to the flames along with my broken heart.
I wander the streets now
Surviving on garbage from the streets.
I search for a home not just to call a home
But a place to call home in my heart.
