ASHES OF MEMORY
The allure of a distant warmth
Discovering images past and present
A reflection appears from within
Ashes of the past come to memory.
Time passes on as a drifting leaf
Reflection from the soul’s wick
Shadows appear in remembrance
From a sleeping thought awakened.
As darkness once now a light
From the tongue it confessed
The taste of memory bitter sweet
Better to have lived and loved.
From the ashes of my memory.
