by Joyjit Sengupta
(Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India)
When enough is not enough
Perhaps there is little more to it
With a brush of your hands
You set it aside
It was only an old bottle of wine
We shared from time to time
To raise our spirits a bit high
You know it’s not the right thing to do
But people change with changing times
One moves ahead
And the other is left behind
But I don’t want you to go my friend
Still if you do
I wouldn’t try stopping you
We might meet another day another time
May be not at our old hermitage
And I shall carry this old friend along
Just a bottle of half-finished wine.
