by Dr. Rick McGrath
(Modesto, CA)
As I contemplated my quest into the deep
An uncharted path though many had gone
Amongst life’s wreckage, treasure to reap
Gazing upon the dark night and black swan.
As I traversed deep into the hole of darkness
Each layer passing going deeper and deeper
The darkness touched upon great sadness
Going deeper and deeper, meter by meter.
Looking up no longer seeing the real light
Only the one that radiates from my being
Darker and deeper now losing my sight
What is this strange feeling and meaning?
The treasure I seek was the bright light
A light amongst the darkness I contend
To my sickness I have lost the fight
Mercy from life with death’s end.
