Christmas in Darwin

by Oscar Steer

The blistering heat seeps into your bones
Everyone is making many different tones
Down at the beach the water tastes salty
The water is as cool as fridge that’s that not faulty

The nervous feeling of opening presents
It’s very major these types of events
All the wrappers have stripes or dots
Amazed at how many presents we got

The aroma of cold meat and prawns fill the room
It’s the time of day our attitudes bloom
Finally it’s lunch on Christmas day
The food we have is such a display

All the relatives have had a cheer
Christmas is over for another year
