by Teresa Ann Frazee
(Boynton Beach, Florida)
When night falls
I surrender to slumber
Being held hostage
By dreams deep under
Ever demanding ransom
For my time
Always pleading innocence
Of any crime
Whispering nightmares negotiate
With pleasant dreams
Nothing is really
What it seems
Past, present and future
Share the same space
All this travel
Yet I remain in one place
Promises of my release
Night does keep
Returning to day
When awaken from sleep
When I grow weary
Night holds the key
I resist no more
Letting dreams take me
