At our Easter dinner this year
a leg of lamb or ham will not appear.
A nonmeat fare will be on table,
a decision not at all traditional.
We want it green and vegetarian
like spring itself, nonsectarian.
And while it's certain no lamb or hog
adheres to any creed much less a god,
it made our hearts rejoice to see
grateful lambs and hogs on bended knee
praising Luck for having been
passed over mercifully again.
