From The Sky

For Don Cannon

You were a star
Dropped into a child
You were a joy that became a jewel
You were a drop of truth in a desert of doubt
You were ideas in a research and development drought
You were not polarized
By politics, ambition, religion
You were hewn from the tree of reason.
In your eyes we saw visions
Of what you would do, of what we could be.

You were a star
You burned too hot
You left a black hole in our hearts.

Thank you

Thank you for your wonderful comments and praise for this new poem. It took me a long time to find the words for my husband. I still keep trying to remember everything that's happened so I can tell him when he "gets back." Now thinking of a way I can get to him, no maps from here to there I'm afraid.

Waterfall
by: Bryan Trahan

A drop evolving into a breathless phenomenon...a drop becoming a waterfall into the pool of life?

Nice Poem
by: Raven

I like this poem for the way it reminds me of how each person on earth is a drop of something so much bigger. I like the first line a lot "You were a star dropped into a child." Thank you Gay and thank you Word Wizard for all you do keep poetry alive and thriving in the world.
