Grief's Grave Yard

by Shirley Denton
(Dayton, Ohio)

Caught in a whirlwind of grief

thoughts invade like ghosts

faceless emotions rise

my eyes red from crying

lifeless and cold maybe I'm dying

Screams go unheard

pain induced like poison

dark fog surrounds me

can't breathe

vitals signs slowly drown and drop

thoughts of you quicken to a grave yard of terror

provoking negative pictures of your face

I trace your name craved on the headstone

tears stream down

crowded fears escape slowly from my mouth

screaming your name
