Homage to Hector

Hector helped me find the poem again,
take it beyond the place where I began
by fantasy and joy of word with word;
I now reshape ideas that once I blurred.

His keen imagination has inspired
my search for light in human depths;
to keep in mind, meanwhile, the quest required
both passionate conviction and observant steps.

In time, I found his layered meanings were
enriched because strict meter may confer
a meaning rich with music when they merge
that illuminates an inherent urge

to know beyond our limited senses,
to conjugate beyond our verbs’ tenses.
