I Love You
by David McDonald
(Fife, Scotland)
Don’t you feel the sensation?
Does the ground not move under you?
Were not the angels singing,
I thought you would have heard them too
The kaleidoscope of colour above,
Has it not been seen by your eyes
All these wondrous experiences,
Do they not come as a surprise?
Can your ears not here the blood rushing,
Is your heart not loud in your head?
All your unruffled feathers you show,
Can they not be ruffled instead?
Perhaps I am thinking in error,
These things I experience are not true
You obviously do not love me dear,
Not the way that I love you
‘for each of us the sensation of falling in love is different’
