I carry you with me, forever
Your life mattered
You were my hero
You were taken away far too soon
Do you now see me as a man?
You would be 84 years old today
But in my mind’s eye, you remain 47
I was just shy of 10 and a half years old
I came home from school
Mom said you weren’t feeling well
I never saw you again
March 14, 1927 was the date of your birth
I will never forget my father
