If you say you didn’t love me
I would not be sat here
Embracing you silently
In the company of shadows.
If you say you didn’t love me
I would not write these words
At half three in the morning
While watching children walk home
From another night out.
If you say you didn’t love me
I wouldn’t walk down to your house
And bang on your door
Until you called the Police
But instead sit there
And mourn
Like I would a dead relative.
If you say you didn’t love me
I would grab you by your hand
And drag you around your house
In a bizarre waltz
Until you begged me to stop
And only when you said
You loved me
With your lips
And not your mind.
