INNOCENCE
When born we have the gift of innocence
That look of purity untouched
A shadow of unstained truth
Eyes wonderful and expectant look out.
A simple belief of good things
Not frayed by cruelty’s reality
A child so young you are
Youth lasts but a moment.
Innocence seems to fade away
Though we wish it doesn’t stray
As youth turns to an older way
Innocence will leave one day.
We pray as you grow older
The wiser you will become
Life is difficult for some
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
