Lonely Sunset

Here on a silent shore I wait,
longing until the day’s end,
under love’s golden spell I grieve,
as the soft light echos through my empty heart,
long shadows ever reaching,
a tired sun kisses the water’s edge,
glistening memories of you,
words and images hidden away,
from the day’s secret desires,
lost in the unknown horizon,
darkness falls without a dream,
then a single star lights the sky – hope.
