A girl called me sits all alone
Silently waiting for the phone
It rings, she jumps, but, alas,
It's only a man from mobil gas
Why is she waiting? I don't know
But something in her posture shows
She is waiting for her lover
But her feelings try to take cover
Pretend she isn't waiting
Play along
She might turn the radio on
And begin to sing along
In her own little world
She forgets about waiting
And loses herself
In sweet melodies
The song ends
She suddenly remembers
Who she is
And why the phone is clutched to her chest
Don't help her, anyone
Let her sleep
And maybe tomorrow
He will call
No
Never
He
Left
Me
