by John Smallshaw
(London, England)
Through the sprawling hours..
..those hours that crawl along the walls of night
Where the light relief of sleep does not appear..
..and every minute lasts a year
And why am I here again?
Let me close the day and sleep
Let me close my eyes and keep my sanity..
..don't want to be
Awake.
Into the silence..let me go..turning low the radio..
..my only companion..and at the end of it
It was only a friend for a bit
Until the batteries went.
Another night spent in the silent zone..in the quietness of the home..
But the day will once again begin
Another win?
Another night that I struggled through
Without you.
