Missing You
You are alive in my dreams, my Love,
Even now, eighteen years after that last
Brief kiss on your lifeless lips.
I feel your presence thru the night.
No words were needed all those hours
As you struggled thru the fog of morphine
With our hands entwined,
Our lifelong love endured thru all.
Regrets, we had a plenty to share
But life unfolded as it must.
Our love grew stronger with each year.
It was my honor to be vigil at your beside
Sharing those long last hours with you.
The cold steel blade of loss burns
Always in my heart this fateful date
When memories do not let me rest.
And ere long I will come to join you
In the blessed eternity of oblivion.
