SAYING GOODBYE

i never thought that saying goodbye would be so sad or even make you mad

until the day we had to say goodbye to a friend, our dad

that was the day our world seemed to fall apart

we finally had you back in our lives, a new beginning, a new start

we are blessed with the wonderful memories we once shared

and in the end you told us that you've always cared

as we stood by your side you took your last breath

you were finally at ease finally at rest

so as we gather here today to tell my dad goodbye

he is up there in heaven saying 'i am okay, i am alright'

now he will never get sick or get too tired

he can fish all day that his strong heart desires

he won't get tangled up or lose any hooks

and once again gets to say 'hey mom and dad take a look'

life is unpredictable and we will never know why

but sometimes gets easier when saying goodbye.
