The Anniversary

38 years Jesus Christ
Folk get less for a flaming bank heist!
But here they are still going strong
So there really can't be anything wrong

Two kids later Ian and Sheryl
Mess with them at your peril
Fiercely protective this father and mother
Try anything stupid and you'll be in bother

Their grandson - my this handsome boy
Is simply and utterly their pride and joy
For Ian the Pound Shop's their favourite haunt
When he's got the wee man oot for a jaunt!!

Throughout the years they've enjoyed their bowls
It'll be all they've got left soon the poor auld souls
That and the Gin and Irn Bru
There's many a time they've both been fu!!!

Ian at one time fell by a tree
His pockets emptied so he couldn't see
The money he lost but his plan of attack
Was to mark the tree and he'd be back!
The next again day he remembered his plight
From when he fell going home the previous night
Eileen laughed and said 'Yer aff yer heid!'
But did he find his money? He did indeed!

The tape he stuck to that auld tree
Was there in the morning for Ian to see
The money was lying there down on the grass
From where he had fallen right onto his ass!!

So thirty eight years later and here they still are
The happiest of couples - they've raised the bar
A glass should be raised for this marvellous deed
It does help of course that they're aff their heids!!!
