by Swila Bathool
(Karama, Dubai, U.A.E.)
I see there, a locked door
A huge door, to open I need to soar
I knocked and knocked
but the door was locked
I need a candle
or a torch with a handle
To hunt for the key
to get out and be free
I am trapped in here
I cried in fear
I swallowed hard
I cried to be heard
An arrow pierced
It happened as I feared
I heard my heart beat
a fast beat which no one can defeat
I cried in sorrow
I need a hard rock to borrow
A rock, to absorb my tears
the tears I have saved for years
I wish I had wings
to soar away from these feelings
When a door closes, the next door opens
is a sentence to relieve me from these burdens
I still have hope
and a kerchief to mop
I will wait and wait
until the day that I await
