To Home You Returned

I was very excited on that day
heard my veteran brother was coming home
for long year I patiently waited
to hear your knock upon my door
when at last I heard your footsteps
as they came up the walk onto the porch
suddenly my eyes became quite misty
held out my hand to grasp your hand hard
want to welcome you back home brother
your room is just like you left it
when you went to serve with pride your
country
just knew some day you would fill the void
glad you came back to us on this day
I'm sure that you want to quietly rest
