by John Smallshaw
(London, England)
To fall into a fallen star
To soar
To want and want a little more
To die into your sweet embrace
and then to race and die again
To feel such pain that has been sown
To have known the wonders of the age
and then to turn the page and learn anew
To do all this and then to kiss your face
To enter in that other place and be at one
To go on and on and on until the song of life is heard
To become the thing that we have shared
To have been the minutiae and underneath the sky at noon
to have done it all and far too soon
to have fallen back into the star.
To wonder who I am and who we are
and far away in yet another day
I kiss your face and enter once again
into that sweet embrace
that tells me all is well.
