Like static leaves upon the trees
you cling without purpose, without means
to the fragments of my mismapped mind
set loose across the plains and tides.
A whispered promise, a gentle hand
a displaced heart, untouched by man
Awake my soul from hibernation’s dreams
escape with it past others less keen.
Shake from the shackles that bind us still
leaving behind restless hope, fulfilled.
tangle our seams with a sailors knot
harboring the bow at ancient docks
jump to the land that holds our escape
and seal with a kiss freedom’s embraced fate.
