by Abbey (12 years old)
(Worthington, Ohio)
The air whips innocent leaves around
Ripping them off ancient trees
Whirling and twirling anywhere they like,
as if to tell us they were here first.
In peace and quiet they danced around, in
forests of needles and thorns like the
world was their ballroom
Trees bending and bowing against their will
Only one force can do these powerful things,
and that is WIND
